INFLUENCES, ISSUES AND CONCEPTS FOR
EDUCATION:
A COMPENDIUM

This compendium offers straightforward guidance when new names, terms, issues or references are encountered. RTweb's 'search' facility can be used to locate specific items.  However, the compendium supports deeper understanding and reflection by presenting related terms together.  It is worth exploring with that in mind.

The clusters of topics covered are indicated in the figure below. In general, those identified as influences constitute and create the contexts in which education takes place. Classroom practices can then be described in terms of three, inter-related 'message systems' of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. Finally, of course, there are Outcomes and consequences. For detail on the research underlying this structure, see www.tlrp.org/themes.
