Research taster
Teachers often lack confidence to take risks with ICT in teaching and learning.
Your evidence
Would it be helpful to identify the barriers that might be preventing you from using ICT to support your teaching? Could you think of three ways you could incorporate ICT into your lessons and write a brief description of the activities you would use. Perhaps you could consider each activity in turn and try to identify the barriers and fears that might be preventing you from implementing them in your lessons? (Adapted from Reflective Activity 5-1c on the Reflective Teaching website at: http://www.rtweb.info/ch05/ra5-1c.html) Moving forward Now that you have identified ways you might implement ICT in your teaching you might find it useful to identify sources of support that would help you to overcome the related fears. Could you use this list of barriers, risks and support as a professional development plan to help you build confidence in the use of ICT in your teaching? Would it be helpful to work with your colleagues to see if you have any shared concerns that might be covered through whole school professional development?
