How can ICT help students learn about using imagery in their writing? PDF Print E-mail
Research taster
Teachers can use ICT to support students’ development of their understanding and use of creative and descriptive writing.  Students using PowerPoint to write poems incorporating pictures are often more effective at using imagery in their writing. Image

Your evidence
Perhaps you could think about your students’ ability to be creative in their writing. you could review several pieces of your students’ work and record the types and amounts of creative language they are using.  Are your students making use of a variety of adjectives, similes and metaphors in a way that enhances their writing?  Can you identify any patterns or trends in your students’ use of creative writing?

Moving forward
Could you think about how ICT might extend these opportunities for creativity?  Are you familiar with the potential of the software that you are using?  Would it be helpful for you to work with your colleagues to share the different ways in which you can encourage students to work creatively on the computer?  Could you ask your students for their suggestions?
